FINISH

Each instrument is finished with the highest quality water-based gloss finish, and buffed to a mirror-like sheen. This type of finish closely resembles traditional lacquers in its ability to enhance wood grain and color, at the same time being less weather sensitive, and more user- and earth-friendly.

PICKUPS

My instruments utilize the Highlander IP-2 pickup system. The IP-2 is a dual source device, consisting of an integral preamp, saddle transducer, and a jack within the body allowing the use of a small condenser microphone or a magnetic pickup. A stereo guitar chord routes the signals from the transducer and a second source (a microphone or magnetic pickup) to an external mixer or blender. The blending of the microphone signal with the transducer signal can produce more of a "live" sound than that of a transducer alone.

Mounted next to the endpin jack is a battery access compartment to allow easy changing of the system's nine volt battery without having to remove the strings and reach through the soundhole, etc. The Highlander is a very transparent pickup system amplifying the instrument's natural sound without coloring it. The high quality electronics of the unit succeeds in adding virtually no background noise, even at higher output levels. A single source version with integral preamp and transducer is also available. Additional information about the Highlander pickup systems can be sent on request or obtained directly from Highlander.
